Hi! I’m Sandy Vaccaro. I’ve been training dogs and their owners professionally for 13 years. I work with owners in a private lesson setting, helping them with in-home behavior problems. So, how did I get started? I started training dogs at the age of 10 while in 4-H. I continued training my own dogs and added in some of the neighborhood dogs, too. While attending obedience classes with my dog, I was approached and asked to apprentice. What an opportunity! Following a year long apprenticeship I began teaching classes and private lessons.

I believe that positive training produces the best and longest lasting results for both the pet and the owner. I found this out when training the dog that introduced me to positive training, my long coated chihuahua, Chico. “Traditional” training didn’t go over well with him, so a new way had to be found. Enter clicker training. My little dog blossomed with this new way of training and I will be forever grateful to him. Training became fun again, and I was amazed at how happy and enthusiastic my dogs were with positive reinforcement training.

I continue to learn all that I can, and I stay on top of new techniques and theories by attending clinics and seminars held by the best of the best in the positive training community.
